Depends on your preferred play style. Go normal if you like the full burst combo, wide if you like poke shell, or long if you like bullet barrage spam, shell spam, or want to “freestyle” and mix up the play styles. Afaik all these styles are viable at the minute, but normal full burst and long bullet barrage are probably the most optimal.

When a monster is raged it is not affected by exhaust even if you've passed the threshold to proc the exhaust state. It will only enter that state after rage mode is over.
